Seeing that 50% of marriages end in divorce, there are bound to be some common deal-breakers involved. Today, from the woman’s perspective women, we share a few of these deal-breakers that the majority of people just can’t move on from.

Cheating is the leading cause of divorce

Most people can tolerate a lot in a marriage, but it is extremely difficult to move on from cheating. According to the American Psychological Association, 20-40% of divorces are due to infidelity. Cheating is a major form of betrayal that breaks down the majority of relationships.

Communication issues don’t help a marriage succeed

Healthy communication is essential in marriage, but a lot of couples struggle to communicate their wants, needs, and feelings effectively. This results in a lot of unresolved conflicts and underlying tension in a relationship. In the end, this emotional withdrawal leads to a disconnection.

Abuse is surprisingly common in marriages

It’s often assumed that abuse affects very few people, but in reality, it’s surprisingly common in marriage. Both physical and emotional abuse can lead to the breakdown of a marriage. It can be difficult to accept or escape this unhealthy environment, but in this situation, divorce is inevitable.

Addiction often results in divorce

Even when you love someone unconditionally, it can be extremely difficult to continue a marriage with addiction involved. Gambling, alcohol, and drugs are just a few examples of addictive, destructive behavior that can lead to unsafe environments and turbulent relationships. A lot of marriages fail to survive when addiction joins the relationship.

Neglect is a deal-breaker in marriages. It is normal to feel unsupported or undervalued if your partner neglects your physical and emotional needs. In any relationship, both partners’ needs should be met, and if your spouse fails to accommodate your needs, it’s a fast track to divorce.

Finances are one of the biggest reasons for divorce

Aside from infidelity, not aligning on finances is the number one reason why a lot of marriages break down. Financial mismanagement and the inability to get on the same page cause a lot of tension in a relationship. Ramsey Solutions found that fighting over money is the second biggest reason for divorce.

A lack of intimacy causes issues in relationships

While there are many sexless marriages that thrive, a lack of intimacy can become an issue in the majority of relationships. Sex is a big part of a healthy marriage, and when this disappears, it can cause couples to disconnect. A decline in physical affection or sexual intimacy leads to tension and hurt feelings.

Women want a divorce when their spouse is controlling

Controlling behavior is very common in a marriage, and emotional manipulation is a major red flag. Guilt is often used as a tool, and you may start to become isolated from friends and family. If your personal freedom or independence is restricted, you’re not in a healthy marriage.

Dishonesty makes it hard to trust

Dishonesty breeds a lack of trust and feelings of betrayal that are hard to ignore in a marriage. A lot of women want to divorce their husbands if there is chronic lying or deceit. It is difficult to feel safe and secure in a marriage if you don’t know whether you can trust your spouse.

We still live in a patriarchal society, and a lot of women want their partner to be the primary breadwinner. Time Magazine says that men without full-time jobs are 33% more likely to get divorced.

Incompatibility leads to divorce

It’s common to get swept up in a relationship’s romance, and further into the marriage, you may realize that you’re not compatible. It is common to grow apart due to differences in values, opinions, and goals. When spouses are incompatible, divorce is usually the end destination.
