18 Deal Breakers That Will Make Men End Relationships

Written By Dave Spencer

Nobody’s perfect. Everyone knows that a relationship will have its ups and downs. But there are 18 things that will make a man end a relationship, no matter what. You’ll find them in this article.

Physical abuse

While it’s true that most cases of physical abuse in relationships concern men abusing women, some women also abuse their partners. Men don’t like to be belittled by women, so a man who is being physically abused by his partner will end the relationship soon.

Alcohol abuse

According to the Addiction Center, “If one or both partners in a relationship struggle with an alcohol use disorder (AUD), it can have detrimental impacts on the relationship and lead to many negative outcomes, such as a lack of intimacy and an increase in infidelity and domestic violence.”

Verbal abuse

If there’s one thing a man won’t put up with in a relationship, it’s verbal abuse. A man needs to feel respected in a relationship, and if he’s being abused verbally, he won’t like it. When a woman constantly abuses her husband with her words, she puts her relationship in jeopardy.

Pressure from in-laws

Men don’t like it when their in-laws get too involved with their relationship. There are some matters that need to be sorted between the couple alone and don’t need to be shared with anyone else. A couple who can’t solve their problems without involving their parents is in trouble.

Pressure from society

If a man is in a relationship that is looked down on by society, he may soon end it. Love will make the man fight for the relationship for a time, but he can only do that for so long until the pressure gets overwhelming and forces him to leave.

Never socializing

A healthy part of a relationship is getting out and meeting new people. If one partner wants to stay at home all the time while the other wants to spend time outside the home, there will be many differences of opinion, and this will drive the two people apart.

Mental abuse

Mentally abusing someone can be just as damaging and wearisome as physically abusing them. A woman who constantly puts her husband down, puts a lot of pressure on him, or fails to show respect to him will damage the relationship and cause the man to leave.

Differing interests

No two people can have all of the same interests, but a couple needs to have some things in common. If a man feels like he has nothing in common with his partner, he’ll look outside the relationship for companionship and might leave the relationship altogether.

Travel for work

A woman who constantly has to travel around for work and can’t spend much time at home puts her relationship on the line. A couple needs to spend time together regularly for their relationship to stay strong. A man who’s always on his own will get bored.

Money issues

“When you consider that about 41% of Americans with families say that money was a big source of tension in their households in 2022, it’s no wonder that financial problems are a leading cause of divorce,” says Investopedia. Money issues can completely destroy a relationship.

Commitment pressure

No one wants to feel pressured into doing something and a man does not want to feel like he’s being coerced into staying with someone or moving forward with a relationship when he’s not ready. This includes the pressure to get engaged too soon or move in together.

Infidelity

There’s nothing that will end a relationship faster than infidelity. A man won’t stay with a woman who’s been unfaithful to him, especially if she’s done so on a number of occasions and doesn’t show any remorse. Infidelity is the nail in the coffin for most relationships.

Gambling

Addictionhelp.com says, “Although the general population typically believes that gambling addiction only affects… the gambling addict, problem gambling can also devastate the lives of loved ones as well.” Gambling can put a big strain on a relationship and cause a man to leave his wife.

An argumentative nature

It’s normal for every couple to have disagreements and argue from time to time. But if a woman has a particularly argumentative nature, a man will find it very difficult to stay with her. A man in a relationship like this will soon be forced to leave.

Growing apart

Relationships change over time, and if a couple doesn’t do anything to strengthen the relationship, it will fizzle out. If a woman isn’t willing to work on the relationship, then she might find her partner grows tired of it, and the two will soon break up.

Lack of responsibility

Both parties in a relationship need to accept their responsibilities and pull their weight. If a woman fails to accept responsibility in a relationship and work towards the smooth running of the home, the man might decide that the partnership isn’t going to work.

Substance abuse

Drugabuse.com rightly states that “drug abuse and addiction can take a toll on relationships.” If a man is in a relationship with a woman who struggles with substance abuse issues, this will put a massive strain on the two of them, and they might break up.

Lack of respect

Men hate it when they aren’t respected in a relationship. A lack of respect can be tragic for a couple. A woman should treat her partner with respect, and she can do so in the things she says and what she does. Without respect, a man might abandon the relationship.
